The One Question Interview: The Hotel George V, Paris, France

On Monday, August 14, 2017 I had a chance to talk briefly with Clement and Ludovic, representatives from the highly esteemed Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris.

I asked them, “What sets you apart from the other luxury hotels in Paris?”

Their answer:

We do have a lot of competition in Paris as there are many fine luxury hotels. This competition helps us to reinvent ourselves continuously and focus on what we control. We do not wait to renovate, but do it as needed. As a Four Seasons hotel, we offer a welcoming and unique experience to our guests. We provide tailor made, continuous service, and we value our travel partners. We keep renovating our product so that we are ahead of the others: we have the newest rooms, the newest spa. We are the only five-star Michelin hotel in Europe. We have 3 Michelin starred restaurants: one is 3-star, and 2 are 1-star. We are different in that we respect our past and move forward into the future to make our guests feel most comfortable.

My Experience:

I had the opportunity to stay one night at the George V, and I found it to be a wonderful experience. I had lunch in the Le Bar, a cozy space with comfortable chairs and tables, serving breakfast and a light menu all day. My room was a Deluxe King Bed room, #541, which is a corner room with 2 windows in the main room and a window in the bathroom. There was a robe and slippers, Buglari bath products, a tub and separate shower. There was also a TV in the mirror in the bathroom.

A beautiful view of the 8th arrondissement and you can see Sacre Coeur way in the distance. From the other window I could see the Eiffel Tower.

The hotel is famous for its flowers, its food, and its personal touches. I enjoyed room service for dinner and breakfast in Le Cinq restaurant, which is open for breakfast and lunch and is a 3-Michelin star restaurant for dinner.

Notice the two butters: one is salted, one is unsalted. Candies are offered after meals and every staff person was unfailingly polite. On my tour of the hotel,  courtesy of Clement Auvinet, I saw several types of rooms and suites. All are beautifully decorated with understated and muted colors. This can truly be your very posh Paris home-away-from-home.
