Travel Tech makes travel easier and more efficient.
Here are some devices and apps that I have really appreciated the last few months.*
Devices
Zagg Portable Keyboard
This saves me about 2 pounds of weight since I can leave my laptop at home. If I can do everything I need to on my phone, this is a great way to have a keyboard with it.
This one is about 9 in length and 5 in top to bottom. It comes in a fold over case that can be used to prop up the tablet/device you’re connecting to. It’s lightweight and sturdy, so it can be used on your lap.
Anker Power Core+ Mini Charger
This is one of the smallest chargers on the market, easily portable. It will recharge an iPhone once, maybe a little more, but is great for a day out and doesn’t take up much room. It comes with the USB to mini USB charging cable but I also got a short USB-to-lightning plug cable .
This pretty much goes everywhere with me.
Apps
Hopper
My new favorite flight search app.
I’ve had this on my phone since it came out, but the interface has improved and it is very easy to search for the cheapest days to fly. You can set up alerts for when to buy the flights. You can also buy flights directly from the app.
Mosaic Photo Book
This app is from Mixbook Photo Company and is one of the easiest ways to create a photo book from your iPhone photos. The interface is simple and elegant. Choose 20 photos and arrange them in the order you want. Choose paper color and pay. The book is sent in 4 days. I just found out that the app is shutting down Feb. 19 so do this fast!
Momento
This private journaling app is fairly simple to use. Add photos, notes, places and people. Send entries to social media or to yourself. This app has gone to a subscription mode to unlock advanced features. I usually keep a handwritten journal on my trips, but this is a good digital option.
