Hello 2025! We’re looking forward to another year of getting out there and seeing the world!
There are many reasons to travel, and one of them must be to see new things, meet new people, have new experiences, and try new foods!
This month’s photos are about the “new” I’ve experienced while traveling.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy New Year!
Wander Wednesday
“Not all those who wander are lost.”- J.R.R. Tolkien
I was fascinated by the water puppet show in Vietnam. Mua roi nuoc displays various characters that dance on the water telling historical and mythical stories originally from the northern Vietnamese rice growing region. These shows celebrated the rice harvest and other important occasions. You never see the puppeteers, as they are behind the bamboo screens, and they manipulate the puppets with rods and strings below the water. This art form is eleven centuries old and no other country has this kind of entertainment. It’s always worthwhile to be introduced to new cultural pastimes while traveling. I even brought home a souvenir-a small painted duck-a tangible reminder of a memorable experience.
