Hello 2025! We’re looking forward to another year of getting out there and seeing the world!
There are many reasons to travel, and one of them must be to see new things, meet new people, have new experiences, and try new foods!
This month’s photos are about the “new” I experienced while traveling.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy New Year!

One of the newer trends in travel is called “set-jetting.” This is travel to visit filming sites for movies and TV shows. Literary travel has been popular for many years, with people visiting all manner of authors’ homes worldwide.
But with recent movie and television blockbusters, set-jetting is creating big crowds for some locations. I’ve shown photos from Hobbiton, New Zealand on this blog, so I’m not exactly new to this type of travel. I just learned a new name for it!
Culross Palace in Fife, Scotland, is part of the village of Culross, a small village well-preserved from the 1500-1600s. It’s administered by the National Trust of Scotland. The yellow paint color has been maintained since the late 1500s.
These buildings were used in the TV series Outlander, and this and other filming locations around Scotland have gained many more tourists because of the show. I had fun wandering this village, remembering the scenes I’d seen on TV.
