This month’s photos are from our January 2020 trip to Rwanda, Kenya, and Tanzania. I’m grateful for the assistance from Kensington Tours, our guides, and the properties where we had amazing experiences.

Wander Wednesday
“Not all those who wander are lost.”- J.R.R. Tolkien
Our first stop in Africa was Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. Spending an hour with a family group of mountain gorillas exceeded my expectations! Gorilla viewing is highly regulated here, and you need advance reservations. The permits are expensive, but the experience is well-controlled and maximized for traveler comfort. We trekked for nearly an hour through the thick undergrowth to get to this particular family’s feeding and resting area. The gorillas are habituated to human presence and continue their daily activities without fear or concern. There are other national parks in Rwanda with various animals worth seeing. Visiting Kigali is also worth a day to understand the people and the culture.
