Wander Wednesday

“Not all those who wander are lost.”- J.R.R. Tolkien

The world of travel has changed for all of us in the last two months. While we can’t go many places now, we can still feed our wanderlust with ideas and photos for future adventures. I will keep posting my photos to give you ideas of where to go when you can. I, too, am always planning my next trip! Stay safe and healthy and let me know if you have questions or want help with future travel. It’s never too soon to start planning!

lilac painting

Lilacs have long been one of my favorite flowers. I love the profusion of blossoms and the heavenly scent. The second Sunday in May is Lilac Sunday and there are several Lilac Festivals around the world during this time. Did you know that purple lilacs represent “first love”, while white lilacs mean “youthful innocence?” They are in the same family as the Olive and there are over 1000 varieties of lilacs. Unfortunately, I live in a climate that is slightly too warm for them to thrive. I have to be content with pictures and the occasional lilac soap or candle!

I took this photo at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The painting is “Lilacs in a Window” by Mary Cassatt, an American Impressionist artist working in the late 1800s.
